Equine Surrender & Retirement

Equine Surrender

We understand how difficult it is when you decide to surrender your equine. There are many circumstances that make keeping your equine impossible and we understand your issues and concerns. Surrendering your horse to Villa Chardonnay will ensure that your equine has the best possible chance at a long and healthy life for the rest of his/her days. We will accept most surrendered equine with a donation ranging from $1000 to $5000 to help care for its needs for the rest of their lives. The amount may depend on their age and or illnesses. Acceptance is based on space available at the facility. Occaisionally a deposit may be required to hold a space. This may seem like a large to amount to some, however Villa Chardonnay is committed to caring for your horse for the rest of his or her days, regardless of vet bills, feed costs etc. Occaisionally a higher donation may be required for horses with special needs or younger horses.

Retirement at Villa Chardonnay

Villa Chardonnay also accepts horses ready for retirement. Perhaps your needs are not soley financially based and you may have the need to retire your horse as they get older. Villa Chardonnay has tremendous experience in caring for elderly horses. We have horses with Cushing's disease, blind horses, arthitis issues, cancer and other ailments. We feed ALL of our horses three times each day and also provide grain daily for each horse. Medications are distributed by our trusted staff for each animal. We are proud to say that we have not had a colic in over two years at Villa! A minimum of $5,000 at the time of intake will help retire your horse at Villa Chardonnay. Ongoing monthly donations are based on the particular medical needs and age of your horse.

Villa Chardonnay cannot transport your horse. We do have people who can transport for you, just contact us and we can help you make the arrangments. All donation and surrender donations are fully tax-deductible.

Surrendered equine must be current on all vaccinations—a copy of the vet paperwork showing current vaccinations is required. If the equine is not up to date on vaccinations there is an additional $200 vaccination fee, which must be paid for vaccinating the equine.

We do reserve the right to refuse or accept any horse that you want to surrender to Villa.
