Medical Issues

Horses in questionable health take daily dedication and medical funding the owners may not be able to handle their medical needs. This can occur for a variety of reasons, due to job loss, their own aging issues or medical issues, or a lack of desire to provide the necessary care to their horse.

Villa Chardonnay takes in horses with Cushing's disease, cancer, tumors, blindness, nurological problems, severe arthritis and many other issues. As we tend to care for a more geriatric crowd our medical needs are tremendous. Just because a horse has medical issues does NOT mean that we will not accept the horse. We do everything in our power to care for them, help them recover and make them comfortable for the rest of thier days.

Medical costs include veterinary fees, veterinary boarding, medication and rehabilitation. Daily medical supplies used in the barn should include disinfectants, gauze, syringes, wraps for legs, ointments for arthritis and bute (pain medication).

Our veterinary fees and medical expenses are over $25,000 a year. Please consider a donation to our medical fund to help us care for the horses with ongoing illnesses.
