"Its so clean, the cleanest rescue I have ever seen" thats what Sam Deluca said to Monika as he was kind enough to make a donation to Villa Chardonnay. "The horses look great!" That is another common remark that we hear. It all has to do with the dedication and love from Monika Kerber to all the "babies" at Villa Chardonnay. She is a perfectionist and is their voice and evangelist as well. If we don't speak out for them, who will? Monika provides the day to day care for all the animals at Villa. She prepares supplements and has her own revolutionary quick cure for colics that has saved dozens of lives. She manages our team of ranch hands and volunteers.
The horses of Villa are fed 3 times a day and most of them receive additional grain to maintain their weight. We have seen over the years, it is easier to keep a horse at their current weight than it is to try and fatten them up after they have lost weight, besides...They love to eat more often and all day! It is good for them to keep food in their stomachs, closer to nature and how they would be in the wild. We also clean and fill their waters 3 times a day, it is one of the easist things to get dirty the fastest. But if a horse doesn't want to drink dirty water, they will avoid drinking, which leads to colic and sometimes death. It's not just clean water, it is their lives at stake.
Excellence in Caregiving, its what we do. We are committed to giving them the best that we can and making them as happy and comfortable until the end of their days.
